Dr John Grummitt, Nottingham

John Grummitt L.D.S, R.C.S, (Eng.), D.G.D.P. (U.K.), M.Med.Sci (GDC number 56377)

John is an elected Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and fellow of the British Society for Restorative Dentistry.

John has a Masters degree (with distinction) in periodontology and restorative dentistry from the University of Sheffield where he was also a part-time teacher in the Restorative Dentistry Department at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital.  He has been a member of the Association of Dental Implantology (UK) (ADI) since 1990.

John has been a general dental practitioner since 1982 and since 1989, been principal of Compton Acres Dental Practice.  He was awarded his D.G.D.P. (U.K.) by election as a result of his commitment to postgraduate education.

He attended his first implant course in 1988 and placed his first implant in 1991.  Since then he has placed and restored nearly a thousand root form implants and attended numerous postgraduate implant courses throughout the world.

He is currently using the 3i OSSEOTITE implant system but has experience of NobelBiocare (Branemark), Dentsply (Corevent), Southern, and ITI (Straumann/Bonefit) systems.

He has restored patients using the majority of augmentation/regeneration procedures; using in the past particulate and lamellar freeze dried demineralised bone, Gortex, hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate and more recently has been using harvested autogenous bone, the latest resorbable synthetic membranes, bioglass and other bioacceptable synthetic materials.

He has carried out sinus lift procedures, ridge expansion procedures, bone grafts and placed and restored implants in all areas of the mouth.

In the field of periodontology as well as providing the more routine treatments such as open and closed root debridement, John has over ten years experience of subgingival antibiotics and other antimicrobials. He has surgically regenerated bone around numerous periodontally involved teeth using several guided tissue regeneration (GTR) techniques, enamel matrix protein (Emdogain), carried out free gingival grafts and repositioned flap procedures to create stable, healthy, keratinised periodontal tissues and reduced pocket depths.

John has accepted referrals from dentists in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire for implantology, periodontology and advanced restorative procedures for the last five years and welcomes patients either by self referral or referred from their own dentist.
